ipod nano
Imagine a space of 2GB or 4 GB?this means you can store from 500-1000 songs. Pure listening pleasure.

The click wheel and color display take music towards new horizons—plays 14 hours of music.

Carries photos, pod casts, and audio books. You can navigate through many photographs using the click wheel. Photos can be transferred and synced with a folder using the itunes softwear.

The ipod can be accessorized using the dock connector and head phone jack. So music follows you around at home, in the car, and even while walking or running. Where ever you go the ipod will follow.

Its feather weight and so easy to lug around. The screen does not crack or break easily contrary to fears. However the ipod is not scratch or stain proof.

Synchronized with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store, the ipod can access the world?s largest selection of music.

The pod has a state of the art processor, system performance, and flash memory. The technology is such that it never skips.

The system requirements are everyday, either a MAC OS x 10.3.4 with aUSB port or Windows 2000 SP4 or windows XP.

Music is your whole life and pure unadulterated sound is something to die for.

Expensive, the ipod retails at US$199 for 2GB and US$249 for 4 GB. But it sets the trend and gives a vison of what music heaven can be.

ipod nano
Shocking as it was, the iPod nano came out the same day the iPod mini was introduced then discontinued. A move by Apple that is quite unorthodox but still a good seller. The nano combined the features of the iPod and the iPod shuffle which drew the attention of both types of iPod enthusiasts.

This is a portable digital music player that is considered to be a trendsetter as well as a must have for all music aficionados. It is common knowledge that iPod has led its corner of its market since its unveiling in 200. With the fourth iPod, the nano, they have further increased their lead over the competition.

But why choose the iPod nano over the multitude of portable and compact digital muic players being offered today? For a couple of good reasons;

Its very thin, compact and lightweight. You can just place it anywhere with you and you wouldn’t even notice it was there if not for the great music coming out from the earplugs.

For its size, you can either have a 2 gb or 4 gb flash memory space which means, you can carry 500-1000 songs wherever you go.

Fantastic technology. It has a state of the art processor, good system performance, and great flash memory. It’s specially designed and manufactured to provide skip-free playback. Say goodbye to the problem portable CD players never fully solved.

Its system requirements are very basic which means you don’t have to spend more money just to upgrade your computer. either a MAC OS x 10.3.4 with a USB port or Windows 2000 SP4 or windows XP will do just fine.

The iPod nano doesn’t just play music. You can carry photos and view it there as well. You can listen to audio books or read ebooks through its notes feature.

The Apple click wheel makes it easy to navigate. With its shuffle feature, you can play music in random order, because as Apple said, “Life is Random.”

You get access to iTunes and be synchronized with it and the iTunes music store, which means you get access to the world’s largest collection and selection of digital music.

It has many accessories available so you can customize it anytime you want. Change the look of your iPod nano every week or even everyday. It would feel like you have a different new nano every time. Also, you will be protecting it from scratches and damage as well.

It can be used with earphones or a dock connector. This means you can carry it with you, plug it into your car, use it with speakers, at home or at an outing. This also means that your iPod nano can go wherever you go.

Aside from the said features, the nano can also be loaded with other goodies. It also has a screen lock for security purposes, stopwatch, and a world clock that will show the time in the different places around the world.

Apple iPod nano is now the new star in the field of the iPod family; you can go for accessories that will enable you to attach the iPod around your neck, on your belt or your arm to keep it in check at all times. With its lightweight, you will need it to be attached to you at all times lest you forget your carrying it with you.

iPod nano, the mid-range iPod digital audio player by Apple Inc was launched on September 7, 2005, with an intention to replace the iPod mini. The gadget works with iTunes on Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows connecting through the same proprietary dock connector as the previous iPods using a USB 2.0 port on the computer of the user. Even though it uses the same connection as Apple’s FireWire iPod Cable and has the ability to charge the battery over FireWire, the iPod nano doesn’t support synchronizing over a FireWire connection. It comes with a stop watch and a multiple time zone clock function.

IPod nano comes with a measurement of 1.6 in (40 mm) wide, 3.5 in (90 mm) long, 0.27 in (6.9 mm) thick, weighing1.5 ounces (42 grams). The gadget from Apple has a stated battery life of up to 14 hours. It comes with a screen of 176×132 pixels, 1.5 in (38 mm) diagonal, and has the ability to display 65,536 colors. The nano comes in two colors of black and white with two available sizes of 2 GB and 1 GB model.

The decision by Apple to replace iPod mini by iPod nano was considered as a risky move, but the results were really positive. Almost around a million units of it were sold within the first 17 days marking a new history in sales, taking Apple to record billion-dollar profit in 2005. The second generation nano comes with a scratch-resistant, anodized aluminum casing with upgraded battery life from 14 hours to 24 hours and doubled storage size. The latest generation of iPod nano came out in 2007, featuring 2-inch QVGA (320×240) screen and a shorter, wider, heavier design, with new colors. New features like browsing via Cover Flow, a new user interface, video playback, and support for new iTunes Store games were added in the latest version.

Apple Ipod Nano: Music Has New Face

Tuesday
Apr 14,2009
ipod nano
The new iPod nano from Apple Inc. is a portable media player that resulted in a revolution in the field of music. It is the mid-range model in the iPod family. The first generation model was launched on September 7, 2005 combining the features of both the iPod shuffle and iPod classic. Apple launched this product with an intention of replacing the iPod mini which was discontinued on the same day. The replacement of the mini was a big surprise for the Apple-related websites even though there were rumours about a new flash memory-based iPod, there was no prior notice of the popular mini being discontinued.

The development work on the design of the Apple iPod nano began only nine months before its launch date. The nano uses flash memory, but with a miniaturised version of the display screen and “click wheel” found on the iPod classic. The screen of the nano also shares the same resolution as the classic. The battery and other internal parts are also in reduced size compared to the mini.

The nano works with iTunes on the Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows. It connects to the computer via the same proprietary dock connector as the third-generation iPod, the fourth-generation iPod, and the iPod mini, using USB 2.0 connectivity. The iPod nano comes with a stop watch and a multiple time zone clock function. There also exist combination lock features that make use of the click wheel to lock the iPod, and serves to secure the user’s calendar and contact information. The Apple iPod nano uses general-purpose integrated circuits (IC) instead of smaller, low cost custom developed chips, in order to reduce time-to-market. This design helps in increasing the number of electronic components and increases the cost.

There are many ways to remove DRM protection from iTunes music. On Windows OS, you can remove the DRM from iTunes music using the burn-and-rip method or you can turn to programs like TuneClone and DoubleTwist. On Mac OS X, iMovie is the perfect solution to removing DRM from iTunes music. Besides, freewares like FairGame is also a pretty good choice. So this article is dedicated to introducing several methods of removing the nasty DRM from iTunes music on Windows and Mac OS X. It is divided into the following four parts:

Part 1. Remove DRM from iTunes music on Windows with burn-and-rip method

A. Insert a CD-R or CD-RW disc into your CD-ROM drive. You’d better use CD-RW disc as it can be used for more than once.

B. Burn your playlist to make an audio CD. You cannot select the MP3 CD option since it requires the protected music files be converted to unprotected MP3 files.

C. After the audio CD is successfully burned, insert the disc into your CD-ROM drive again. Then you can use iTunes to import the music tracks on the burned disc to MP3 files.

Part 2. Remove DRM from iTunes music on Windows with TuneClone

A. Download TuneClone from http://www.tuneclone.com and install it.

It is fully compatible with Windows XP and Vista. A virtual CD Burner will be installed. This virtual CD-RW will be used to convert music files.

B. Set the default CD Burner to TuneClon CD-RW at iTunes.

Click menu Edit, select menu item Preferences…, and then select Advanced Tab. In order to keep the artist and title information of the music, the Include CD Text option should be checked.

C. Create a playlist, and then add the files you want to convert into the playlist.

D. Click Burn Disc button at the bottom right of the main screen of iTunes.

While the burning gets started, TuneClone will automatically convert the music file to MP3, WMA or WAV. You can open the manager screen to show all the converted music files.

The most important step is to choose the cd burner. Then the software can convert the music files automatically. It is exceedingly easy when you want to batch convert lots of files.

Part 3. Remove DRM from iTunes music on Mac OS X with iMovie

In the iMovie window, select the ‘Media’ tab located between ‘Themes’ and ‘Editing’. You will notice that the top right portion of the interface now offers a media browser. Select the ‘Audio’ tab and locate the playlist which contains purchased music, or search by artist/title.

Select the DRM-laden song and drag the file from the media browser into the iMovie timeline where it says “Drag audio here to build your project.”

In order to export the song, iMovie requires that a visual image be associated with the audio track - iMovie thinks that it is going to be exporting a movie. Simply drag a blank image (or any other image) to the track above the previously imported audio file. Once iMovie has processed the image, select the ‘Share…’ sub menu item from found inside ‘Share’ in iMovie’s menu bar.

Ensure that ‘Expert Settings’ is selected in the “Compress movie for:” drop-down menu. Selecting ‘Expert Settings’ mode will provide the options to export the file as an audio file. Select the ‘Share’ button.

In the Save as… dialogue, select “Sound to AIFF” in the Export drop-down menu, Choose an appropriate directory for iMovie to export to, title the file, and select ‘Save’. Depending on your machine configuration, iMovie will compress and export the movie project as an audio file in 15-40 seconds.

Locate the exported AIFF audio file and drag to your iTunes Library. Right-click on the file and select “Convert Selection to AAC”. Once completed, ‘Get Info’ on the new file, edit meta data, add album art, and trash the originally purchased and AIFF audio files from your iTunes library.

Part 4. Remove DRM from iTunes music on Mac OS X with FairGame

FairGame is freeware to remove DRM protection from iTunes music on Mac OS X. It will convert the DRMed songs you bought on the iTunes Store to an unprotected format (using iTunes default encoder) and keep all the original metadata, lyrics and artwork. FairGame doesn’t do lossless DRM stripping. It re-encodes protected AAC files purchased in iTMS into unprotected AAC file using Apple’s iMovie software.

What you MUST DO (only once) to get FairGame to work:

Enable “Access for assistive devices” in the “Universal Access” system preference

Select “Place clip in Movie Timeline” in the “Import” preference of iMovie HD

Then you can simply:

Select some songs in iTunes

Click on the “Process songs” button

Don’t touch anything and wait until it’s done…(FairGame is scripting iMovie’s interface to process the songs, don’t interfere)

iTunes is a proprietary digital media player application, launched by Apple Computer , for playing and organizing digital music and video files. Of course, iTunes is in

a different league from Mail. You could almost argue that it is Apple’s single most important piece of software after OS X, its flagship digital product.

iTunes is the easiest way to organize, share and listen to music on your computer. Find new favorites. Manage your growing library. Enjoy the best friend an iPod

ever had.

Importing your existing music is merely a matter of inserting a CD, while the iTunes Music Store offers something for everyone. Buy songs and albums by your

favorite musicians. Download exclusive tracks — from artists such as Eminem and Franz Ferdinand — you won’t find anywhere else. Or jumpstart your digital music

collection with iTunes Essentials organized by mood, artist or theme.

iTunes is the software hub that makes the iPod such a successful device. And since it was made available for Windows

as well as Mac OS X, iTunes has become the first piece of Apple software many people ever see. As such, it acts as a representative, a means for Apple to show off

its wares to potential new customers.

What’s more, iTunes does so many things. From its beginnings as a humble audio player, iTunes has now become a central point for downloading and enjoying all

manner of multimedia content. Podcasts, music videos, online radio, TV shows, and audio books have all got a place in the iTunes Sources bar.

iTunes is also a store. For many people, the iTunes Music Store is the first thing they try out when using iTunes for the first time

Automated Option: If you’re someone who likes to sleep in the same room as your Mac, then it makes sense to use it as a sophisticated alarm clock. Better yet, fix it

so that iTunes wakes you up with your favorite songs each morning. AlarmThingy should do the trick.

In OS X, iTunes comes with a decent stack of Automator actions (including several designed for use with iPods) you might like to play around with.

Explore Your Music: One of my favorite add-ons for iTunes is Clutter, a free, open source app that lets you look at your music collection the old-fashioned way: by

seeing the sleeves. Clutter gives you the chance to put music CDs anywhere you like on your Desktop. You can drag them into whatever patterns or piles you like.

To play an album, double-click the sleeve. It’s nice.

Sharing: You probably know that libraries and play lists within iTunes can be shared over a network. Anyone else on the network can listen to the music directly from

your Mac. With hardware extras like Airport Express, you can use AirTunes to distribute shared music to audio-video devices too. It’s all very simple to set up.

It is always your one-stop music shop , the iTunes Music Store now features music videos and TV shows to buy and own

forever. So while you browse more than 3 million songs, 35,000 podcasts and more than 16,000 audiobooks, you can also preview and download that classic ’80s

video or the latest episode of “The Office.”

This article will show you how to convert DVD to other video formats and edit DVD; it includes the following four sections:

1 How to convert DVD to AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4, MP3, FLV, MOV, etc?

2 How to edit, combine and crop DVD movies?

3 How to rip audio from DVD to MP3 for iPod nano, shuffle and other MP3 players?

4 How to put DVD clips on Youtube, Myspace?

5.How to put DVD to Windows Movie Maker

What you need is Aimersoft DVD Ripper; you can download it for free here:

http://www.aimersoft.com/dvd-ripper.html

If you want to rip DVD to AVI/MPEG/MP4/MOV/FLV/MP3 on Mac OS X such as Leopard, you can use Aimersoft DVD Ripper for Mac, it fully supports Intel processor and Power PC:

http://www.aimersoft.com/dvd-ripper-for-mac.html

Part 1. How to convert DVD to iPhone/iPod/PSP/Zune/Apple TV/Phone/Xbox/Zen/AVI/MPEG?

Step1. Insert your DVD disc into your DVD-Rom, then run the software, click “Load DVD” button and add the DVD file. You can also add DVD/IFO from your hard disk by clicking “Load File”

Step2. This software can convert DVD to various video formats such as MPEG-4, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP, VOB, etc. Click the “Format”drop down list to select a format. If you want to copy DVD to computer in 1:1 lossless quality, please select “Lossless DVD Copy (*.vob)”.

If you don’t know much about mobile players, just select a format according to the name of your mobile player. For example, if you want to copy DVD to the coming iPhone, just select “iPhone Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)”, and the default setting works great. If you want to customize the output video, you can click the “Settings” button next to the format field to open the Settings window and set video resolution, frame rate, bit rate, encoder, etc. See the figure below:

Step3. Select Subtitle and Audio

Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting “No Subtitle”. Selecting Audio is the same.

After the above steps, click “Start” to start conversion.

Tips:

If you want to copy DVD to iPod, this software has a free iPod Copy Manager; it can help you transfer the converted video to iPod directly without iTunes. Just connect your iPod to computer, click “Tools” -> “iPod Copy Manager”, then you will see a pop up window (See the figure below), the left pane is the video and music list on your computer, the right pane is the file list on your iPod (you also can copy files from iPod to computer, it’s useful if your computer crashes or you lose iTunes library), select the files you want to sync and click the right arrow button to finish the transfer.

For PSP, this software also provides a PSP Video Manager, click “Tool”-> PSP Video Manager, it fully supports all PSP firmware version (former 3.0 or 3.0 later), and the steps to transfer files to PSP is very similar.

Part2. How to edit, combine and crop DVD movie?

After you load the DVD file. If you want to cut the black edges of the DVD movie, you can click the “Crop” button, and then you will see a pop up windows (See the figure below). There is a frame in dashed line around the movie video; you can drag it to cut the black edges.

More over, you can click the Crop drop-down list to select a Crop model you prefer, for example: “Cut off top and bottom black edges”. You can even type the number in the box to cut off black border accurately.

If you want to combine several DVD chapters into one file, on the main interface, there is a check box “Merge into one file”, select it, then you will only get one output file instead of several files by chapters.

You can click the “Effect” button and customize the brightness, saturation, contrast, volume, etc (See the figure below). You can even apply special effects such as “Emboss”, “Negative”, “Old film” and “Gray” by selecting an effect from drop-down list.

Part3. How to extract audio from DVD to MP3 for iPod nano, shuffle, Zen and other MP3 players?

This software can extract and rip DVD audio track to MP3, WMA, WAV, AC3, AAC, M4A and so on, if you want to rip the music from DVD to your MP3 players such as iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, Creative Zen, Zune and so on. After you load your DVD movie, in the main interface, select the output format as MP3, and then start conversion. If you want to get better music quality, you can select a higher audio bit rate and sample rate in the settings window.

After the conversion, drag the audio file to iTunes library, connect your iPod nano or iPod shuffle to your computer, and click iTunes “File -> Sync iPod”, OK. If you don’t have iTunes, you can download it for free from Apple official site

http://www.apple.com/itunes

For PSP, just copy the music to the “Music”folder on your memory stick.

For Zune, drag the music to the Zune software, and click “start sync”.

Part4. How to put DVD clips on Youtube, Myspace?

This software can convert DVD to FLV format for Youtube, Myspace and other video download sites. So you can share your own DVD clips with friends. After your movie is imported, select FLV as the output video format. Then log in Youtube, Myspace upload your video. But a whole DVD movie might be very large. By default, this software will convert the whole DVD to one file; if you just want several chapters of the DVD, you can just select the chapters you want to convert (you can preview the DVD clip before converting it).

Or you can click “Trim” button to open the trim panel, drag the trim bar to set start time and end time to convert a clip from your movie. You can also type the exact time values in the Set Start Time field and Set End Time field to trim video.

Part5. How to put DVD to Windows Movie Maker?

To put a DVD movie into Windows Movie Maker, you have to rip your DVD to WMV or AVI video first(Windows Movie Maker supports WMV, AVI and MPG video files.), and then you can load it into Windows Movie Maker. I’d prefer using Aimersoft DVD Ripperto do this. just load the DVD files, click the format drop-down list to select “WMV – Windows Media Video (*.wmv)” or “AVI – Audio Video Interleaved (*.avi)” as the output format. select the suitable subtitles and audio tracks then click “Start” to start conversion

Then Run Windows Movie Maker, in the “Movie Task” bar, click “Add Video”to browse your computer and located the converted files, and then you can start to make personal movies.

Tips: Many users may wonder how they can convert Windows Movie Maker file (*.MSWMM) to other video format. Actually, A *.MSWMM file is not a video file. It is a project file of Movie Maker (more like a record file). You have to open this file in Windows Movie Maker and save the movie to your computer: Go to Movie Tasks bar > Finish Movie > Save to my computer. After that you will have a WMV file which can be converted to another video format or burned to DVD.

Note: Rip official DVD movie is illegal, so make sure you are authorized before you rip them.

iPod touch

First introduced on iPhone, the multi-touch interface uses pioneering new Mac OS X-based software to present the ideal user interface for each application. The iPod touch also includes Wi-Fi wireless networking, the first on any iPod, and three applications that use it — Safari, the most advanced browser on any mobile device, lets users wirelessly view web pages just as they look on their computer, and features Google Search or Yahoo! oneSearch; Apple’s YouTube application lets users wirelessly watch over 10 million free videos from the Internet’s most popular video website; and the new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store lets users wirelessly browse, preview and buy songs and albums from the most popular online music store in the world. The iPod touch is an unbelievable 8 mm thin, and is priced starting at just $299.

“The iPod touch is a landmark iPod, ushering in a whole new generation of features based on its revolutionary multi-touch interface and built-in Wi-Fi wireless networking,” said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs. “People are going to be amazed at how thin it is and how much it does.”

With its 3.5-inch widescreen display, iPod touch is ideal for watching movies and TV shows, as well as viewing photos and album art. The player also features a built-in accelerometer that automatically senses when you rotate it into its landscape position, just like iPhone. When you’re in music, it automatically switches to Cover Flow so you can browse your music collection by album cover artwork with just a flick of a finger. When in Photos, it automatically displays the photo in its landscape aspect ratio; and when in Safari it displays the web page horizontally.

iPod touch — which features up to 22 hours of audio playback and up to five hours of video playback — also has a built-in ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display’s brightness.

iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store

Also launched alongside the iPod touch is Apple’s iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, which lets you browse the iTunes Top Ten lists of songs and albums overall or by genre, check out new releases and “What’s Hot,” or search for your favorite songs, albums or artists.

You can preview any song for free, then purchase and download the ones you like directly onto your iPod touch over Wi-Fi. The music you download will be automatically uploaded into your iTunes library the next time you sync your iPod touch with your computer.

With Safari, which Apple says is the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device, you can see web pages the way they were meant to be seen, with the ability to zoom into any webpage with a tap of your finger. The Safari web browser includes built-in Google Search and Yahoo! oneSearch so you can quickly and easily find information you need. iPod touch also includes Apple’s proprietary YouTube application that allows you to access, browse and search for millions of free YouTube videos over Wi-Fi.

Starbucks partnership

Apple also announced an exclusive agreement with Starbucks that allows you to access the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store for free in participating US Starbucks stores starting next month. When you enter a participating Starbucks location, your iPod touch, iPhone, or PC or Mac running iTunes will automatically recognize the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. You can see what song is currently playing or has recently played in the store, and immediately preview, buy and download it over Wi-Fi.

Pricing & Availability

The new iPod touch is scheduled to be available later this month. The 8GB iPod touch model is $299 (US) and the 16GB iPod model is $399 (US). iPod touch requires a Mac with a USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later and iTunes 7.4; or a Windows PC with a USB 2.0 port and Windows Vista or Windows XP Home or Professional (Service Pack 2) or later and iTunes 7.4. Internet access is required and a broadband connection is recommended, fees may apply. The iTunes Store is not available in all countries.
