Since its launch in the year 2001, Apple’s Ipod has been virtually unrivaled in its sale of digital audio players. Turmoil has engulfed the industry as Microsoft released its long-awaited player, the Zune, in late 2006. Several hundred thousand consumers have declared their intentions to abandon loyalties to Apple. This separtists movement, under the leadership of the all-powerful Microsoft, has made it difficult to heep the peace. Two consumers, who believe themselves to be the gaurdians of …

It doesn’t matter whether you have an iPod or not, you can still listen to your favorite songs on your computer using iTunes, Apple’s software program which stores and plays all your songs and music videos. You can also get iTunes iPod downloads as well straight to your computer.

This means that you can buy songs, music videos, and now, even movies which you can then play back on your iTunes software. To begin with however, you will need to get the iTunes software for the iPod downloads, and this can be done through the Apple official website.

In the early days of the iPod the iTunes software was bundled along with the iPod itself. This meant that only people who had bought an iPod would be able to use the iTunes iPod downloads. These days however, the software is to be downloaded from the internet, and can be used by either Mac users (Apple’s computers), or Microsoft Windows PC users.

iTunes iPod downloads have gained in popularity just as much as the iPods themselves and many people are now using the iTunes iPod downloads to store and listen to their songs, instead of other playback software.

This also means that people now have access to the songs and music videos which can be bought from the iTunes site. And really, these iTunes iPod downloads are the ones which are taking off the most. People from all over the world now have access to literally millions of songs and music videos, and all for only a small reasonable fee per song or music video.

The only hitch is that you will need to have a bank account, with a credit or debit card available, and your bank account will need to be in one of the countries that has an iTunes virtual store for you to buy any iPod downloads.

You will be able to find out which countries are on this list by going to the iTunes site. From here you can see if your country is among one of the countries and if it is and you have a bank account, you can then go ahead and buy your iPod downloads.

If you have a bank account in the United Kingdom, you can get yourself an iTunes account and get as many iPod downloads as you want.

But even if you have a United Kingdom iTunes account, you can in no way, shape, form or manner, get any of the iTunes iPod downloads from the United States iTunes store, or even the Japanese iTunes store, or any one of the other iTunes store.

You are limited to getting only iPod downloads from the country where you have a bank account. And this can be very frustrating as some of the songs to be found on the United States iTunes store for instance, cannot be found in the other iTunes stores. Very frustrating, yes, but iTunes iPod downloads are still one of the best ways of getting great songs.

Norway to Ban Itunes Downloads Online?

In this case, we are talking about the Itunes and Ipod relationship.

Unlike most countries, Norway has a unique way of enforcing its laws in this regard. The country appoints an “Ombudsman” to rule on various issues such as whether a company is or is not complying with the laws of the country. The current ombudsman has ruled that Apple violates the law because Itunes cannot be used to download to Nokia and Microsoft products to name but a few. So, is Itunes going to be blocked in Norway now? No. The company has until October 1st to make changes that allow other products to receive downloads from Itunes. How Apple goes about this, of course, is going to be the interesting development.

Obviously, the Norway ruling is not good news for Apple and its incredibly popular Itunes-Ipod product line. Then again, how big a hit could losing the Norway market be? Probably not a big one, but more bad news may be on the way. Other countries in the European Union are now reviewing the ruling and considering adopting it. If Apple faces this problem across all of Europe, you can bet it will move quickly to modify Itunes.

At the end of the day, the ruling of the ombudsman in Norway may look like the usual unwanted government intervention. In truth, it is probably a good move. As consumers, we should want as much flexibility as possible with the things we pay for. If Itunes can be accessed through more products, it can only be a good thing.

Itunes and Zune Marketplace Comparisons

If you know a little bit about digital music, then you probably know what the differences are between the major music download services presently available. If you’re looking to buy your first digital music player, then it’s a smart idea to become familiar with the popular services. But which one is the best for you? We’ll weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each service, which will hopefully give you a good idea of which service is right for you.

The iPod has played a big part in making iTunes so well known today. Other digital music players are compatible with iTunes and can play downloaded files from the service, but none work better than the iPod. If you’re one of the many that decided to pick up an iPod, then you’re sure to get the utmost satisfaction from the iTunes platform. In my opinion, the best part about iTunes isn’t the wide variety of songs available for download, but the video part of iTunes. You get to download television programs and watch them at your convenience.

The spot where Zune users go to download their digital music is called Zune Marketplace. When it comes to price, Zune Marketplace offers about the same prices when compared to iTunes. If you’re familiar with iTunes and expect Zune Marketplace to have just as many songs available to download, you might be dissapointed with Zune at first. When it comes to the variety of songs available for download, iTunes takes the cake. The future might change this, however, since Microsoft adds more songs for download all the time. Hopefully they will add video soon as well, since iTunes offers this currently while Zune does not.

Which service is the best? In my opinion, iTunes has been around for a lot longer and have a stronger foothold in the digital music market. Mainly because they offer more music, plus advantages like video that Zune doesn’t offer just yet. Time might change these things, though, and the tables can turn. It’s a good idea to keep a close eye on what both services are doing, as they are always implementing improvements to make your experience more enjoyable.
